Leadership, Innovation and the Dandelion Principle

In a recent MIT Sloan Management Review article, contributors Robert Austin and Thorkil Sonne illustrate the need for leadership to embrace different perspectives within the workplace–even when employees appear not to fit.  Context makes a dandelion either a weed or a useful plant.  Austin and Sonne use the same argument for talent and assert that leaders should change the work environment to accommodate existing and new hires.  By including different perspectives, organizations can increase their ability to innovate and problem solve.
