In Daniel Goleman’s excellent Harvard Business Review piece “The Focused Leader,” Goleman explores the different modes of focus for effective leaders. He writes that research suggests that instead of merely removing distractions, leaders focus on themselves, others, and the wider world. By doing so, leaders develop emotional intelligence and can improve their capacity to innovate and manage organizations.
